Subtle Magic

I always thought that logic and magic were separate, which is silly, because more than half of their spelling entirely aligns.

I am writing today to share about my new page, “Electric Paint,” where you can find my doodles, sketches, drawings of liminal spaces, dreams & musings. I started typing away as a precursor to the page and realized I had too much to say and thus birthed my first official namesake website blog post.

Ever since the concept became a possibility in my realm—I’ve been enamored with creating art via technology. I believe what we inscribe in light has an interesting power and pathway. Our mind is the same, electronic impulse flying through the system that interprets the stimuli and creates different images, sensations, realities… Creating in the digital realm is fun for me. I create similarly with sound!

I’m so excited that I came to be in the time where I got to grow as the internet came to be widely accessible to all, a sort of Wild West. I can’t say it has been an entirely wholesome experience— humanity has its spectrum of goodness, and less so, I suppose. I clumsily began with a mouse and MS Paint in my grandparents’ basement, and with whatever the Apple equivalent was in the early 2000s. Those crazy translucent Mac computers rocked my tiny mind. I still remember the first time I sat at one in a school that no longer exists today in Gilmore City, Iowa. Onward to my next explorations with my Bamboo Wacom Tablet and Photoshop, which was a fun exploration, but never as satisfying as I wanted... Onto the past few years, I became absolutely obsessed with obtaining an iPad and Apple Pencil so I could work on a special project. I have found a good flow and rhythm with these tools!

Well, here we are. I love exploring different textures and realms with light. I’m just following the natural expansion and we’ll see what happens. Uploaded for your viewing enjoyment.
